I would like Super-8 Camera nominations for my best super-8 camera poll that will be conducted later this month.
Rather than go with my own experiences in creating the choices, I'd like feedback as to what cameras are named in the poll.
Please nominate specific Super-8 camera brands.
You can nominate as many as you like, as long as you have used the camera and liked the results.

Just brand or brand and model? Also how many models? I have a Nizo 4056 and love it, much better than my nizo 136XL and cheap sears camera. But the Nizo 4056 would really be in the same class as the nizo 3056 and 4080 and maybe even the 6080 and PRO cameras. Maybe you should take nominations for camera classes. Anyway I nominate the Nizo 4056.

I nominate the Bell and Howell MS-45..I does everything you could possibly want, and nobody ever talks about it..it photographs beautifully, is easy to operate, and since it has a computer module, has less moving parts to wear out.

I own eight cameras.
Two of them are Sankyo EM60xl models. Absolutely love them. They have excellent optics, sharp registration, fade in/out, intervelometers and time lapse.
Second choice is my Elmo 612xls. Used it to shoot the anti-war march last weekend. I chose it over the Sankyos because I have a wide angle lens that screws on the lens.
Next choice would be either of my minoltas, the Autopak D6 or D4

Nope, didn't know that. What's he trying to do?
It was an odd, last minute chice I made. I was going out the door, and saw my cameras. I grabbed the elmo and three rolls of Ektachrome.
Here's the weird part. I didn't have any fresh film. The rolls I grabbed were given to me by a friend who had them lying around.
The rolls were from 197o's.
Yeah, they were Viet-Nam era stock.
I have NO idea if anything I shot will be usable, I have NO idea if the stock was maintained in anything like nominal conditions. I had to hunt around to find someone who could even PROCESS Echtachrome 160 TYPE A... It's old chemistry. Only Rocky Mountanin Labs could do it. It may be months before they send it back.
So it was all a "leap of faith".

I guess I'm the happy hook upper...
HI,
My name is Paul, an amateur super8 filmmaker from the west of Ireland
and what I?m trying to do is to collect footage of protest marches that
happened around the world last Saturday.
I don?t know if you get this in your country but Shannon airport in
southern Ireland is used by the American army to refuel their planes on
route to the Middle East and has been for years. This is the source of
huge controversy in Ireland as it compromises our neutrality. Basically
what is happening is that our government is selling out on part of our
constitution for a few dollars, by supporting in real terms the US war
machine.
With this in mind myself and two others went to Dublin last Saturday
armed with a Bell & Howell 806 autoload, a Cannon autozoom 1014, 5 No.
K40 cartridges, 2 No. B/W reversal cartridges, a portable minidisc
recorder and dynamic mic to cover the protest. The expected 20,000
people turned out to be 100,000 people so the atmosphere was great the
place was full of colorful people in good form? perfect camera fodder.
The important vibe from the day was the fact that so many people turned
out in protest all over the globe to support the anti war movement. An
event like this may prove to be one of the most significant historical
incidences of our life times.
I feel that with the growing global anti-war sentiment that this film is
a very important one to make. So my plan is to submit a final edit of
film shot all over the world in festivals here in Ireland and in
mainland Europe to strengthen this ideal and keep it moving forward.
So far I've gotten some 16mm footage from Los Angles and some super8
with sound from Norway and pledges of help and support from people in
various other countries around the world. If you or any of your
friends/associates have shot any footage of protests last Saturday or
have any ideas and would like to make arrangements to share please
contact me at [email protected]
If you have any interest in any of this, even if only to help re-write
this page so its not so f****ing long winded Id appreciate it, and know
this if you do decide to participate you will be part of something
really very unique.
PEACE.
